Literally no idea what today's Wordle word means; "determine the content or quality of a metal or ore or to attempt"...
We've attempted many pub redecs and refurbs in our time, however, we have never attempted to turn a refurb around in 4 weeks flat from receiving the keys
The biggest obstacle has been dealing with big companies; all things ordered / delivered by small businesses; great. Nearly everything from large organisations (with the exception of Screwfix who are quite frankly epic) is a bloody badger set of darkness and customer service misery
A few of the worst examples:-
Diageo (Guinness) - so far sent over 20 messages to attempt to get a rep and any glassware - All ideas gratefully received on this one!
Heineken - cellar install held up by survey and ridiculous lead times, promised us Beer Barrels for outside, no sign of them...
GXO - beer delivery survey not signed off due to the place being a "building site" and there being no cellar equipment; none of which has anythign to do with whether or not you can roll a keg down a set of stairs
Corporation of London - could we please change the sign at the end of the Mason's Ave currently still promoting "El Vino", email has been passed onto someone, and then someone and then someone - I'll be taking my blackboard paint and pens down to the sign myself early next week!!!
The reality of organising a full rip out, re-fit, refurb in such a short space of time is quite frankly crackers even if all suppliers play ball but we keep on believing and pushing. And thank the Lord for our wonderful Manageress and and her crew of Marvel Super DIY Heros; we literally would not be open without her input
Imagine trying to get a big company to wallpaper a 10 metre drop without scaffolding. Would never happen...
Definitely couldn't work like this forever but for a few weeks it's worth it; as a small business you really can't pay rent for long and not be open!
And we keep ourselves going with beers, and fine nutrition; mainly bacon and eggs
