Bloody hell, seriously? Not a very pub refurb word, however, upon reflection the slang use of this word is "to beat or to knock down" and i think it's fair to say that we've beaten several obstacles out of our way this week, not least the most useless cellar survey done by Innserve, which only served to hold up our install. We were helpfully informed the lead time was 6 weeks! What the hell are we upposed to do for 6 weeks? Just sit here paying rent?! FFS
Muchos complaining later, they agree to send contractors to do the work. Two great lads turn up and are utterly shocked to find no cellar equipment has arrived, the survey makes no sense, has every beer listed incorrectly, and is basically uninstallable as the space behind the bar isn't big enough for the lines to pass through.
The bar, btw, is solid metal so do we know anyone who can cut through metal TODAY?
Errr, queue our fabulous Manageress who happens to be Polish, and therefore knows a complete crew of handymen. We were assured someone would be here at 5:30pm. So the brilliantly positive and helpful cellar chaps hatched a plan and got on with the work downstairs.
Safe to say, day, cellar and whole project time frame saved by good people!
Definitely worth celebrating that with a beer, ot two
